FAQS

How do I determine my coverage amount?

Here at Your Insurance Florida, we do the work for you. The first step we take is to gather all the pertinent information of your home, including square footage, exterior construction, interior flooring, roof shape, upgrades, local construction costs, etc. and put it into a replacement cost calculator to find out exactly what it would cost to replace your home given a total loss. This is what your home would be insured for.

What exactly does a homeowner's insurance policy cover?

It depends. At Your Insurance Florida, we only provide what they call an HO-3 Special policy, which covers you for all perils. This is the broadest form of protection offered in the state of Florida, and has the best protection for your home. After requesting a quote, our insurance advisor will call and go over all of your specific coverages so you have a strong understanding of what you are being covered for.

Do I need to cover my screened enclosure?

It is recommended. Screened enclosures are not covered by default for hurricanes. By endorsing the screened enclosure to the policy, we can guarantee coverage during the event of a hurricane for a minimal annual cost.

Does an older or original roof disqualify me from getting new insurance?

No! Many companies do have limitations as to what year a roof must have been replaced in order to qualify for coverage. At Your Insurance Florida, we have options available to cover a home with an older or original roof.

Do I need a wind mitigation inspection?

It depends. Any home built in 2002 or after is up to current roofing codes, and having a wind mitigation inspection does not have any additional benefit. However, although it still isn't required for homes built before 2002, it can save a significant amount of money on insurance premiums and is certainly recommended
